Sinkhole develops on Cantle Street

A sinkhole has developed under the pavement on Cantle, completely undermining the pavement. Your DiamondXX Road Committee is on it, working with County maintenance to come up with a solution.

County crews have closed Cantle to vehicular traffic until the road can be temporarily repaired. They estimate closer through the weekend.
The 4ft culver under the road has rusted and completely collapsed, leaving only the pavement above intact so you’d never know that their was a chasm underneath, ready to swallow a truck!
Because of the wetland on either side of the road, the county cannot dig down and remove the rusted culvert and replace it. That work will come later this summer when, hopefully, the wetland has dried sufficiently for them to bring in equipment.
